Custom sew-on patches

No backing at all — just the patch, stitched on. It is the oldest method and still the most permanent, and it is the only one that works on the materials the others cannot touch.

Why choose it

  • The most permanent attachmentStitching goes through the garment rather than sitting on top of it, so there is no adhesive to fail and no hook to wear out.
  • Works on anythingLeather, waxed cotton, waterproof shell, denim — all the fabrics that defeat iron-on take a stitched badge without complaint.
  • Sits flattestNo backing film and no hook layer, so a sew-on patch is the thinnest and most comfortable option against the body.

Where it is the wrong choice

It has to be sewn, which means either a needle and thread or a trip to a tailor. For a hundred school badges applied by parents, iron-on saves everyone an evening.

Choose iron-on patches instead if you need speed and the fabric is ordinary cotton or polyester.

How to apply it

  1. Pin or tack the patch in place first — a badge that shifts halfway round the border is the most common way this goes wrong.
  2. Stitch around the edge, either by hand or on a machine, keeping just inside the border so the stitches sit in the patch rather than beyond it.
  3. Match the thread to the border colour and the stitching disappears; contrast it deliberately and it becomes part of the design.

Washing and care

Wash the garment exactly as you would without the patch. There is no adhesive to soften and no hook to clog, which is why sew-on outlives every other backing.

Questions we get asked

Question not answered here? Message us and a real person will answer. Ask us →
Applying Which stitch should be used?

A straight stitch just inside the border is enough for most patches. A zigzag over the edge holds better on heavy kit that gets pulled about.

Applying Can a tailor do it?

Any tailor or alterations shop will, in minutes. For a large run it is worth asking for a price per piece rather than per garment.

Garments Does stitching damage the garment?

It puts holes in it, which is the trade for permanence. On a jacket nobody notices; on a technical shell it can compromise the waterproofing, so velcro on a sewn loop panel is the better answer there.

Lead time How long does an order take?

Production runs 3 to 6 business days, counted from the moment you approve the proof — not from when you place the order. Shipping is on top of that and depends on the destination and the service you choose.

Timing When does the clock start?

At proof approval. Nothing is cut, stitched or struck until you have seen the digital proof and said yes, so a slow approval moves the finish date with it.

Destinations Where do you ship?

We make to order and ship from Dubai across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain, and to the United States and United Kingdom. Ask us for anywhere else — it is usually possible.

Minimums Is there a minimum order?

Not on embroidered patches — order one if one is what you need. Moulded and struck lines carry a minimum because they need tooling, and the quote states it before you commit to anything.

File types What artwork do you need from me?

Vector is ideal — AI, EPS or PDF. We also take PNG, JPG, WEBP, TIFF, PSD, GIF and ZIP, and honestly a clear photograph of a sketch is enough to quote from and start on.

No artwork What if I do not have artwork yet?

Send the idea — a rough drawing, a reference you like, or a description. We draw it up and send it back as a proof for you to approve before anything is made.

Proofs Do I see it before it is made?

Always. You get a free digital proof and nothing goes into production until you approve it. If it is not right, say so and we change it.

Contact How do I reach a person?

WhatsApp on +971 52 933 2878 is fastest, or email info@custompik.com. A person answers — there is no ticket queue between you and the people making the thing.

Quotes How do I get a price?

Send the artwork and the quantity and we come back with a fixed quote. Nothing on this site is charged automatically and you pay nothing up front.

Problems What if something arrives wrong?

Tell us and send a photograph. The proof you approved is the reference — if what arrived does not match it, that is on us to put right.
