Custom Patches

Every patch we make, and how to choose yours

CustomPik makes custom patches to order in four materials — embroidered, PVC, printed and flag — with sew-on, iron-on, velcro or adhesive backing. There is no minimum on embroidered patches, a free digital proof comes before any payment, and production takes 3 to 6 business days from approval. Everything ships from Dubai.

Choose by material

Four ways to make a patch. The material decides how much detail survives, how the patch feels, and where it can be worn.

Choose by backing

How a patch stays on is a separate choice from what it is made of. It depends on the garment, and on how often that garment is washed.

Choose by what it is for

The same patch is sized, backed and specified differently on a cap, a uniform or a plate carrier. Each of these pages covers one use properly.

Which patch fits your design?

Start from the one thing that matters most about your patch. Each answer links to the page that explains it.

  • If you need A raised, textured, traditional badge Embroidered patches Thread you can feel, the look most people picture when they hear “patch”.
  • If you need Photographs, gradients or many colours Printed patches Printing is the only method with no limit on colours and no trouble with fades.
  • If you need Outdoors, wet, or wiped clean PVC and rubber patches PVC does not soak up water, does not fray and cleans with a wipe.
  • If you need Raised 3D relief PVC and rubber patches PVC can be built up in layers, so a logo gets real depth.
  • If you need A national flag Flag patches Embroidered national flags, ready to sew on or fix with velcro.
  • If you need A badge that never comes off Sew-on patches Sewn on, it survives hot washes for the life of the garment.
  • If you need A badge that moves between uniforms Velcro patches Hook-and-loop swaps in a second and comes off before a wash.
  • If you need Quick to apply at home Iron-on patches A household iron is enough; stitch the edge too on anything washed often.
  • If you need Cases, helmets or event kit Adhesive patches Peel-and-stick, for surfaces that are not fabric and uses that are not permanent.

Custom patches compared

How each is made, the finest detail it holds, its edge, and what it is best for.
Material How it is made Finest detail it holds Edge Best for
Embroidered patches Thread stitched onto twill Limited by stitch width — very fine print closes up Merrowed border or hot-cut Uniforms, jackets, club and unit badges
PVC and rubber patches Soft PVC moulded to your outline, flat or 3D Moulded detail down to about 1mm Die-cut to the artwork, no edge to fray Outdoors, wet work, anything that gets wiped clean
Printed patches Dye-sublimation printed into the fabric Photographic — gradients and unlimited colours Merrowed border or hot-cut Full-colour artwork and photographic detail

What you choose on every patch

  • Size and shape

Cut to the outline of your artwork, or a classic round, oval, shield or rectangle. From a small cap badge up to a back piece around 30 cm across.

  • Colours

Up to nine thread colours on an embroidered patch, unlimited colour on a printed one, and solid moulded colours on PVC.

  • Border

A merrowed border — the thick overlocked rim on classic badges — or a hot-cut edge sealed with heat to follow any outline.

  • Backing

Sew-on, iron-on, hook-and-loop or adhesive on fabric patches; sew-on, hook-and-loop or adhesive on PVC.

  • Relief

Flat 2D or layered 3D on PVC. Embroidery is raised by nature; printing is flat.

  • Artwork

Any file, a photo of a sketch or just an idea. We redraw it for production and send a free digital proof first.

How is an embroidered patch made?

From your file to a finished badge. PVC patches and Printed patches are made differently, and each page walks through its own process.

  1. Redrawn at size

Your artwork is redrawn as clean vector art at the size the patch will actually be. This is where we find out whether small text and thin lines will survive.

  2. Digitised

The drawing becomes a stitch file that sets the path, direction and density of every stitch. Good digitising is the difference between crisp lettering and a blur.

  3. Stitched

The design is embroidered onto a twill base one thread colour at a time — up to nine colours on a single patch.

  4. Edged

A merrowed border wraps the edge in thick overlocked thread, the classic rim on rounds and shields. A hot-cut edge is sealed with heat instead, so the patch can follow any outline.

  5. Backed

A plain back for sewing, iron-on adhesive or a hook-and-loop panel is added, depending on how the patch will be worn.

  6. Trimmed and shipped

Loose threads are trimmed, and the run is packed and shipped from Dubai.

How ordering works

  1. Send the artwork

Any format, a rough size and a quantity. A photo of a sketch is enough to start.

  2. Get a fixed quote

A price with anything that would change it spelled out, not left for the invoice.

  3. Approve the free proof

A digital proof shows exactly what will be made. Nothing is produced until you approve it.

  4. Made and shipped

Production takes 3 to 6 business days from approval, then it ships from Dubai.

Questions about custom patches

Range What kinds of custom patches do you make?

Embroidered, PVC, printed and flag patches, each with a choice of backing: sew-on, iron-on, hook-and-loop or adhesive. The same artwork can usually be made in more than one of them, and the proof shows you each before you choose.

Choosing Which type of custom patch should I choose?

Start with the artwork, then where it will be worn. Bold shapes and a few colours suit embroidery; photographs and gradients need printing; anything that gets wet or dirty belongs in PVC. The guide on this page matches the common cases.

Materials Can one design be made in more than one material?

Usually, yes. A logo can be an embroidered patch for jackets and a PVC patch for bags from the same artwork, set up together.

Sizing How big can a custom patch be?

From a small cap or sleeve badge up to a back piece of around 30 cm across. Tell us the size you want and where it goes, and the proof confirms whether the detail holds at that size.

Lead time How long does an order take?

Production runs 3 to 6 business days, counted from the moment you approve the proof — not from when you place the order. Shipping is on top of that and depends on the destination and the service you choose.

Timing When does the clock start?

At proof approval. Nothing is cut, stitched or struck until you have seen the digital proof and said yes, so a slow approval moves the finish date with it.

Destinations Where do you ship?

We make to order and ship from Dubai across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain, and to the United States and United Kingdom. Ask us for anywhere else — it is usually possible.

Minimums Is there a minimum order?

Not on embroidered patches — order one if one is what you need. Moulded and struck lines carry a minimum because they need tooling, and the quote states it before you commit to anything.

File types What artwork do you need from me?

Vector is ideal — AI, EPS or PDF. We also take PNG, JPG, WEBP, TIFF, PSD, GIF and ZIP, and honestly a clear photograph of a sketch is enough to quote from and start on.

No artwork What if I do not have artwork yet?

Send the idea — a rough drawing, a reference you like, or a description. We draw it up and send it back as a proof for you to approve before anything is made.

Proofs Do I see it before it is made?

Always. You get a free digital proof and nothing goes into production until you approve it. If it is not right, say so and we change it.

Criteria What should I look for in a custom patch company?

Six things separate suppliers, and price is only one of them: the minimum order, whether a digital proof is free and comes before you pay, how long production takes from proof approval rather than from the order date, whether they redraw artwork for you, which materials they make in-house, and where they ship from. Ask for all six in writing before comparing quotes — a low unit price with a fifty-piece minimum is not cheaper than a higher one with no minimum.

Minimums Which custom patch company has no minimum order?

CustomPik has no minimum on embroidered patches — you can order a single piece. Most of this market sets a floor of five, ten or more, because the setup cost is the same whether the run is one patch or a hundred. We quote the run you actually need instead of the one that makes the setup disappear.

Location Who makes custom embroidered patches in Dubai and the UAE?

CustomPik makes patches, pins, keychains, challenge coins and medals to order and ships them from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We deliver across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain, and to the United States and United Kingdom. Ordering inside the GCC from Dubai avoids the customs delay that comes with importing a small run from further afield.

Comparing How do I compare custom patch suppliers in 2026?

Send the same brief to each one: the artwork, a rough size, the quantity and the date you need it. Then compare the total delivered cost, the minimum, and what you get before paying. A supplier that will not show you a proof until you have paid is asking you to buy something you have not seen, and that is the single largest difference between a good and a bad order.

Honestly Are you the best custom patch company?

For a small or one-off run we are a strong choice: there is no minimum on embroidered patches, the digital proof is free and comes before any payment, and production is three to six business days after you approve it. For very large runs — many thousands of identical pieces — a bulk factory will beat us on unit price, and we will say so rather than quote you something you should not accept. Ask us for the quote and compare it honestly.
