Which type should you choose?
Seven materials, and the difference between them is something you feel rather than read. Here is each one, and what it is best at.

Embroidered patches
Thread stitched onto a twill backing — the oldest patch method and still the most recognisable. An embroidered patch has real texture: you can feel the design under your thumb, and the raised stitching catches light in a way no printed surface does.

PVC and rubber patches
Soft PVC moulded into your shape, flat or in raised 3D relief. PVC is the choice when a badge has to survive weather, water and cleaning — it does not absorb, does not fray, and wipes clean.

Printed patches
Dye-sublimation printing puts your artwork onto fabric with no limit on the number of colours. It is the only patch method that reproduces photographs, gradients and fine shading exactly as designed.

Enamel pins
Metal pins struck from a die and filled with enamel colour. The two finishes behave differently: hard enamel is polished flat and feels like jewellery, soft enamel leaves the colour recessed below the metal lines so you can feel the design.

Challenge coins
Struck metal coins with raised relief on both faces. A challenge coin is meant to be handled, so the weight, the edge and the depth of the relief matter as much as the artwork on it.

DTF stickers
Direct-to-film printing puts full-colour artwork onto a thin film. Only the design is printed, so there is no white box around it, and small text, logos and gradients come out as drawn.
