Back pieces at the size they are worn
Ten to twelve inches across, in one piece or as a three-part set with a top and bottom rocker. We set the stitch density for that size instead of enlarging artwork drawn for a sleeve.

Backing that can take the weight
A large patch full of thread is heavy, and light backing puckers under it. Heavy twill and a bound edge are what stop a back piece rippling once it is on leather.

Sew-on, because leather is not ironed
Iron-on adhesive and a leather cut do not mix, and the heat will mark the hide. Back pieces go on with thread, so we finish the edge for it rather than leaving you a raw one.

Sun and rain are the real test
This is the one product that lives outdoors for years. Colourfast thread and a bound edge, because the failure here is a faded patch with a frayed corner, not a wrong colour on day one.

Artwork Can you reproduce another club's colours or insignia?
No. Club insignia is somebody's mark, and in this world that matters more than it does in most. We make artwork the customer is entitled to supply — for your own club, that is you. Send your design and we will make it.
Sizing How big can a back patch be?
Up to about twelve inches comfortably, and we will tell you if your artwork is fighting that size. Above it the weight of the thread starts working against the jacket rather than sitting on it.
Sizing Do you do three-piece sets with rockers?
Yes — top rocker, centre piece, bottom rocker, set up together so the curves actually meet when they are sewn on. Ordering them separately is how you end up with a gap.
Durability Will it fade?
Slower than the jacket will. We use colourfast thread and bind the edge, because a patch that lives outside for five years fails at the edge first and in the sun second.
Criteria What should I look for in a custom patch company?
Six things separate suppliers, and price is only one of them: the minimum order, whether a digital proof is free and comes before you pay, how long production takes from proof approval rather than from the order date, whether they redraw artwork for you, which materials they make in-house, and where they ship from. Ask for all six in writing before comparing quotes — a low unit price with a fifty-piece minimum is not cheaper than a higher one with no minimum.
Minimums Which custom patch company has no minimum order?
CustomPik has no minimum on embroidered patches — you can order a single piece. Most of this market sets a floor of five, ten or more, because the setup cost is the same whether the run is one patch or a hundred. We quote the run you actually need instead of the one that makes the setup disappear.

Comparing How do I compare custom patch suppliers in 2026?
Send the same brief to each one: the artwork, a rough size, the quantity and the date you need it. Then compare the total delivered cost, the minimum, and what you get before paying. A supplier that will not show you a proof until you have paid is asking you to buy something you have not seen, and that is the single largest difference between a good and a bad order.
