The detail
Die-struck metal filled with enamel. Hard enamel is polished flush with the metal lines for a smooth, jewellery-like face. Soft enamel leaves the colour recessed, so you can feel the raised metal outlines with a fingertip.
Plating
The metal edges are part of the design. Gold and silver read bright and clean; black nickel and antique finishes give more contrast and suit heavier, detailed artwork.
